London Collections Menswear 1415

Quick as a Flash, in came the new year, out came the menswear and then off to Pitti they went. This was the annual wake up call to the new year of Fashion; London Collections Men. Day 1 and Orlebar Brown's skyline outlined shorts and shorter still shorts offered those still dosing off in the new year an idle minded daydream into beachin' on the southern shores.

Joseph and Jonathan Saunders both presented dulcet washed out models with Joseph presenting sharp sheared Gents in clean cut premium grey scale basics while Jonathan Saunders opted for floral infused stripes and Dandy meets Jockey ensembles.

Closing out the week  LCM brought us a fleck-frenzied and utterly wearable offering from Oliver Spencer. Featuring BritPop to Shire farmboy, Alex James, he was sporting a gallant beard effort a sure fire essential this year.

  

  

Orlebar Brown

Orlebar Brown was the brain child of photographer Mr Adam Brown and was derived as a response to the dominance of board shorts and bright patterned boxers which were uncouth for any sort of formal resort event. Defined by style and not fashion, the collection of shorts are classic in cut and design, and in their words are 'not so much a swim short but a short you can swim in'.

These smart shorts make a comfortable transition from poolside to al fresco dining. Men are liberated from the need to change to dine. The short options are; The Setter, The 'shorter' short, The Bulldog, the classic boardshort and the Dane, the smarter boardshort. Each of the design's come in the variety of colours that define the American Apparel experience, my personal favourites are Mallard and Mazanine.


 The brand has developed quite the following and have grazed the upper legs of designer Richard Nicholl and Louie Spence of Pineapple Dance Studios alongside Jamie Redknapp and music mogul Simon Cowell. This is a new niche brand that really deserves a mention and is the perfect summer purchase.
