Agi & Sam for TOPMAN

Following three catwalk shows, a BFA nomination for emerging menswear talent and a sell-out Liberty collection, Agi & Sam are the twenty-somethings mirroring their peers with ten more years on their cards.

The East London print princes met whilst working at Alexander McQueen and merged their respective educations, Sam in illustration from lincoln and Agi in fashion design from Manchester to form Agi & Sam.Their digital print brand stamp has been aptly applied over some card-friendly offerings for Topman. The range inspired by the 2012 Olympic games, is a twenty piece offering tied by football inspiration and support for 'The Owls'. While the Topman range doesn't quite offer the 'piece of premium' that H&M collaborations have offered the designs are littered with print heavy designs. This time of eggs shells, nestings, feathers and owls.

Launching online June 4th, Topman.Com

Jane Carr Homme Mad Dogs and Englishmen

My inbox was delighted to receive visuals from Mad Dogs and Englishmen, the A/W 13/14 Collection from Jane Carr Homme. The relatively new to the scene brand, specialising in fabric accessories have put out a fantastic array of pocket squares and scarves over the last couple of year. the guys over there have been keeping me informed of their progress. While due to timings i've been unable to accept their invitation to check out their London Showroom (terrible planning on my part). The visuals however are truly stunning, before dipping into these and to get you versed on the overall style aesthetic for the collection i'll steal a brief one-liner from the press release

'Taking inspiration from a song written by Noel Coward the unique prints are inspired by London pearly kings, the british bulldog, scattered safety pins and splashed paint.'

Now on to product.

Roll Neck Sweaters

Warm winter staples are always welcome on our cold isles, and the re-emergence of the turtleneck (not turtlehead, and do not google) sweater   is all but welcome.

This knitwear device isn't the easiest to put on or pull off. A battle of fabric wrapped round your head in a semi-noose like turban is not an unfamiliar sight. Some others may be able to go through this process with a little more grace than I did on Friday. My subsequent look after my head poked free from the turtleneck wasn't the finest. A cream cotton knit had transformed me into a substitute Bond Villain. Albeit missing the ski goggles, Swiss Alps backdrop and there was no aggressive armed snowmobile chase to account for my wild hair. This wasn't my finest hour but did avoid my first fear, of repping a 1990s throwback look similar to a Back Street Boys Christmas video, hopeful of the No.1 spot.

While on this occasion I did leave empty handed I think a sweater in a more subtle tone of the season would have been much better, a deep wine coloured turtleneck at Reiss had much better prospects.   It removes all snow and throwback fears and will handily disguise any spills after over indulging in mulled wine. Which reminds me I need to top up my glass.
